Sales Warrior Lesson 14: CompetitorsAttacks, in the sense of advancing positions by moving into new territory, are absolutely required by classical strategy. Battles, that is, meeting opponents or challenges, are also a daily fact of competitive life. However, in classical strategy conflict is a mistake, to be avoided whenever possible.
Why is conflict a mistake? First, conflict always involves a miscalculation on
someone's part. In Sun Tzu's era, armed conflict only occurred when both
opponents were evenly enough matched that they both thought they could win
the engagement. Otherwise, the weaker would evade the stronger. However, when conflict
did occur, one opponent was proven clearly wrong. |
