Sales Warrior Lesson 8: The Need for a Philosophy

Sun Tzu taught that strength doesn't come from size. It comes from unity and focus. Unity and focus come from a clear sense of your purpose, direction, and motivation. A small focused and united force is much more powerful than a divided large force.

Most organizations lack a clear sense of mission, purpose, and philosophy, but no company can be all things to all people. Most mission statements boil down to vague platitudes. Clear, concise values that make your mission clear to your prospects and customers are one of the most powerful and most overlooked sales tools.

The lessons of focus and unity are the central lessons of chapter 3, Planning an Attack.

Exercise: Your company probably has a mission statement. Find it and copy it down.
